Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Opening chapter demo

The opening chapter is playable, and a save is not a promise.

Check the full-game date beside this demo.

KONAMI describes a demo of the opening chapter on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Steam dates the Windows demo 30 September 2026, calls it free, and still lists it. The demo is a version of its own. It is not the full game, and the visual marks on this page are notes a player can set. They do not mean a stage has been cleared.

Carrying a save into the full game has four published conditions: the same platform, the same account, the demo save kept, and the full version updated. Some demo features and content may be restricted or may differ. A cleared opening on Tuesday is not described as a cleared opening after those differences. The checklist is a way to record that you have read each condition.

The store capsule repeats the Terada key art of the blonde hunter, the red cursed arm, the cross, the title lockup, and the castle.

When a demo save is kept

Same platform means a PlayStation 5 demo save is for the PlayStation 5 game, a Switch save for Switch, an Xbox save for Xbox Series X|S, and a Steam save for the Windows app. KONAMI does not describe a cross-buy of the demo progress. Same account means the store account that holds the demo. A second profile on the same machine is a different account for this rule.

The save has to still be there. Deleting the demo or its data before the full game looks for it breaks the condition even if the other three are true. The full version has to be updated, so a disc or a download that has not taken the launch update is not the target the note describes. All four are AND conditions in the published wording. Three of them do not substitute for the fourth.

The line about features that may differ sits beside those four, not inside them. Even a save that transfers can meet a full game whose opening is not a photocopy of the demo. That is why the buttons say Recorded. Pressing one stores your own mark in the browser for the moment you are reading. It does not report a boss defeated, a card unlocked, or a file synced.

How big the opening chapter is

KONAMI's demo capacity row is 6 GB on PlayStation 5, 3 GB on Nintendo Switch, 5 GB on Xbox Series X|S, and 4 GB on Steam. Those figures are the demo, not the Standard 8 GB or the Midnight 10 GB, and not the Switch full-game sizes of 4 GB and 6 GB. A memory card planned from the demo number alone will be short for Midnight on a console.

Frame rate on the demo page matches the product page: 60 fps, with Nintendo Switch at 30 fps. The opening chapter does not get a special rate. Steam's Windows demo date is 30 September 2026. The full game's KONAMI date remains Thursday, October 15, 2026, while the Steam store date field still reads Oct 14, 2026. The demo arriving in late September does not pick a winner between those two full-game wordings.

The announcement that a demo existed shares a 20 September 2026 information list with the video and screenshot posting guidelines. The guideline page is marked Created September 20, 2026. Players posting captures from the opening chapter are the audience of that sheet. The sheet is a KONAMI page, not a house rule invented here. The Windows build being free and still listed is a Steam demo-app fact from the same season.

Free on Steam does not set the console demo prices, which are described by KONAMI as the opening chapter on those platforms without a second US dollar figure here.

Still listed means the demo app had not been pulled on the Steam record used for this page.

30 September 2026 is the Windows demo date. It is earlier than both October wordings for the full game.

A 6 GB PlayStation 5 demo against an 8 GB Standard install shows the opening is not the whole download.

Switch's 3 GB demo against a 4 GB Standard install is a smaller gap, and Midnight on Switch is 6 GB.

Xbox's 5 GB demo sits between the Steam 4 GB demo and the PlayStation 5 6 GB demo.

Updating the full version is a condition even for players who pre-ordered and already have a preload.

Keeping the demo installed until that update looks for the save is the practical reading of the kept-save line.

Restricted features are allowed by the same note that allows differences, so a missing costume in the demo is not a contradiction.
